In the world of Celsius, a group of warriors came together to take on missions for the King. Each Hero aligns himself or herself with a certain element, and has special abilities based on such. Now, it’s your role to steer these heroes through quests and missions through which they become richer, and grow stronger.
Rarely can you find an MMO that effectively incorporates Match 3 gameplay. This is what Celsius Heroes is, however. While MMO gamers used to playing battle arenas and open-world exploration could take time to adjust to this new way of playing RPGs, those that are used to casual gaming can use this Facebook game as a means to enter the world of MMORPGs without having to go through a significant adjustment period.
Quests are at the center of this game’s mechanics. Like most RPGs, non-playable characters give you the quests to undertake in exchange for loot. Loot can either be in-game cash, experience points or rare equipment that can make your heroes stronger. Quests can be received through a point in the storyline, or by visiting the Tavern.
Quests involve two activities -- exploration and battles. Using on-screen directional buttons, you steer your character through the world in first-person perspective. Along the way, you could encounter monsters. Barging through these monsters will trigger a battle, of course, played out in Match 3 puzzles.
There are three things to look out for when undertaking battles in Celsius Heroes. One is the element -- each character, including the enemy, is aligned with an element. Fire is Red, Nature is Green, Water is Blue, etc. Each element is weak when attacked by a specific element -- Fire is weak against Water, Nature is Weak against Fire, Water is Weak against Nature, etc.
Another element is colored Purple. These elements stand for Healing, and you can Match these up to recover Health Points or HP.
Matching up spheres of a specific color will trigger an attack by the Hero or Heroes aligned to that element. The damage dealt to the enemy will depend on how strong the heroes are.
Second factor in a battle is the number of moves before an enemy attacks. This is indicated by a number beside each monster’s HP. Use this knowledge to properly plan your matches so you can trigger combos, thus shortening the length of time in each battle.
You need not worry about being limited by a number of moves here in this MMORPG/Match 3 game. You just need to watch out for your HP. You can even drag spheres to match them up even though two or more spheres are far from that one sphere’s original location.
Strategize your matches so that you can create combos. Combos deal bigger damage to enemies because there are more heroes involved. They can even attack more than one monster simultaneously!
The game is continually being developed, so there’s still no word on a possible Player versus Player functionality. For now, the game concentrates on questing and raiding.
