Get yourself a casual game treat from King (the ever so famous developer that gave us the game Candy Crush Saga), that pretty much reinvents the match-3 game experience altogether - and separates itself from the trend of all match-3 games you’ve been fed with by adding some new mechanics into the game to provide its players with a relative fresh foothold of puzzle, that stays true to the roots of the genre. Welcome, Blossom Blast Saga.
When you first start off in Blossom Blast Saga, the first few levels you play will also double up as sort of tutorial levels that’ll guide you through all the basics of the game. Each level will have something new to teach such as how to make the flowers blossom, how to perform great combos therein, using power-ups, and similar things. The tutorial levels are pretty well designed and are quite concise so you’ll be through with them within a matter of minutes up until you flourished to your 6th successful level where you get to name your account and be racked up with competing online players (for scores that is).
The gameplay, as mentioned earlier, is pretty much like the traditional games of the genre. The objective of varies each level; prior levels require you reach a specific score entry to qualify for the level, while others tasks you to obtain specific hits on a bud item within the given puzzle. The method of playing is pretty standard, match together flowers in such a way that a combination of three or more if formed. If you do so, these flowers will be removed from the playing area and you’ll be given corresponding points. If you manage to match together more, a combo explosion gets you rewarded not only with points, but with blossoming flowers around the trails of your matched up flowers as well – altogether rendering a more powerful explosion later on for these flowers when they are matched.
Power-ups of course play a major role in the game as well. You’ll have access to all the standard power-ups such as removing a specific flower in the puzzle, rigging a pattern within the puzzle, and of course getting extra moves. Power-ups are purchased through an in-game currency, which itself is quite scarce so it’s worthwhile to remember that they must be used with the utmost efficiency.
Blossom Blast Saga, being a game developed by King, gets a polish – found only in top tier games. Definitely a cut above the rest. The top notch and fluid animations are combined with a really appealing color scheme that makes this game one of the finer looking match-3 games out there. Not to mention, it is filled with beautifully exploding flower petals as you line-up better combos in your game.
To put everything in contrast, Blossom Blast Saga is a pretty high quality match-3 game that’s sure to please its audience thanks to the high quality visuals and fresh, yet still very addictive gameplay that the title has to offer.
